#Metallica, also known as The Black Album ("The Black Album"), is the fifth studio album by the American heavy metal band#Metallica, released on August 12, 1991. The album, Metallica, the band's namesake , was soon dubbed "The Black Album" and thus became known to fans. The turn in musical style was hailed by critics and the public, surprised and expanded the band's reach in the music market. By adopting simpler melodies, slower rock and approaching the root of Heavy #Metal, Metallica found an innovative style, sometimes heavy, sometimes light. In The Black Album's creations, the fast staccato riffs and screaming vocals, present in the band's first four albums, gave way to simpler and more harmonic melodies, for example in "Nothing Else Matters", whose arrangement and orchestration of " Nothing Else Matters" were made by Michael Kamen.
