David Lynch was born in 1946 in the United States. Since he was a child, he showed an interest in art and the strange. He studied painting at the Pennsylvania Academy of Art, where he began experimenting with animated films. In 1971, he made his first feature film, Eraserhead, which became a cult classic of underground cinema. The film shows the anguish of a man who has to take care of a deformed baby in an oppressive and surreal environment.

He also founded a foundation that promotes transcendental meditation for world peace and human development.
