Thinking is indispensable on the way to love God. Thinking is not an end in itself. Nothing but God himself is an end in himself. Thinking is not the aim of life. Thinking, like not thinking, can be the foundation for vainglory.
Thinking, without prayer, without the Holy Spirit, without obedience and without love will be proud and destroy (1 Co 8.1). But thinking in submission to the mighty hand of God, thinking saturated with prayer, thinking guided by the Holy Spirit, thinking bound to the Bible, thinking in search of more reasons to praise and proclaim the glories of God, thinking in service of love—this thinking is indispensable in a life of full praise to God.
